SEBORRHEIC KERATOSIS
Seborrheic keratosis is a pathological alteration of the skin that is characterised by a disorder in the keratinization processes of the epidermal epithelium. The latter becomes thickened at the corneal level, but it is only a slight problem as it does not evolve into malignant skin cancer. It has a warty appearance with a tendency to peel and form small greasy crusts that can come off easily. It can be confined to a small area and isolated, or even multiple and spread around large areas of the skin. Keratosis can be due to family history or the aging processes of the skin tissue: this type of cause induces keratosis in 75% of people aged over 50 years.
